Yes, of course, ALL quality outdoor cooking involves plenty of alcohol…but here I am talking about alcohol bkacpacking stoves. The main appeal is their simplicity and ultralight weight…but I am wondering about their heat output and reilability. Will investigate more and report back. In the meantime, here are some useful links I found:

ZenStoves.net - lots of well organized background information on alcohol stoves, including clear instructions for making several varieties.

Hot, Light, and Cheap” -Backpacker Magazine article from 2003 with instructions for building a stove out of a tin can and a few other scraps.

Scott’s Pepsi-G Stove”- very detailed instructions for building a stove out of a few beer/pop cans.

Penny Alcohol Stove - good instructions for another stove made out of aluminum cans.

Stay tuned…

Yes, cdkitchen.com posted a recipe for ‘grilled cajun style gator tail.’  You should know, however, that it requires 4 pounds of gator tail.  The upside is it feeds 24.  Check it out here.

Not the best video quality, but he’s working up some mean chili (while his girlfriend pokes a lot of fun at him.)  Peep it here.
